Vegetables need a place in the sun, literally and figuratively.  Too many menus focus on fat and offal.  While there is much flavor to be found in these parts, they can leave you feeling like you were the one on the butcher block.  Veggies, on the other hand, offer an unmatched brightness of flavor and are undeniably sustainable.  Now is the chance to explore your love for these local treasures in the company of some great wines!

On Thursday, January 26 at 7 p.m., getready to discover how marvelous the meatless side of life can be as we host a wine-paired dinner at Backstreet Café. We're focusing on a bounty of local goodies including satsumas, carrots, mushrooms, root vegetables, herbs, fresh greens and many more.  Best of all you don't have to be a vegetarian to enjoy this meal. We will show the many sides of ingredients, from the light and delicate to the hedonistic, and maybe, along the way, change the way you view veggies.  We’ll also showcase some of the more interesting and unheralded options from the world's preeminent wine giants Italy and France.
